Abstract
Nine trabeculectomy samples, five iridectomy samples and one lens of an exfoliation syndrom were examined. Next to typical exfoliation syndrome fibrils, the alteration of endothelial membranes and similar structures has been pointed out. Concerning the glaucoma genesis, it is being discussed whether a participation of the trabecular network in the disease course might be a preliminary condition for the development of glaucoma and, thus, mere infiltration of exfoliation material into the trabecular network alone could be responsible for developing a glaucoma. Keywords
