Reduced Absorption of Aureomycin Caused by Aluminum Hydroxide Gel (Amphojel)

Abstract
The simultaneous oral admn. of aluminum hydroxide gel and aureomycin reduces the gastric distress noted when aureomycin is used alone. 11 individuals were given 1st aureomycin alone and then aureomycin and aluminum hydroxide together. Detns. were made of the aureomycin levels in their serum. In 10 cases there was a decided drop in the aureomycin concn. after aluminum hydroxide was admd. These 2 drugs should not be used together.
