Abstract
It is well known that certain impedance matrices, which can be realized by multi-ports containing only inductors, capacitors and resistors, can only be realized in this way when more reactive elements are used than the McMillan degree would suggest. The redundancy which this implies is investigated and it is shown to be of three types, which can exist alone or in combination. In particular, the multiport may have least order in spite of the redundancy. Keywords
