Abstract
16 college students learned under instructions to verbally anticipate every item in a list of 9 2-place numbers; the learning criterion was 1 correct trial. Recorded jaw muscle action potential (MAP), arm MAP, heart rate, EKG, volume pulse, and GSR. Found that the rate of verbal learning is associated with increased physiological activity in the head region and further that this activity is most critical in the interval when a correcting response is made following an incorrect anticipation.
