Abstract
Measurements of the rate of lamellar spiralling per unit of growth in directionally frozen Pb-Sn eutectic ingots show, contrary to expectation, that the rotation rate is nearly twice as rapid for unseeded Bridgeman samples as for seeded Czochralski specimens. The origin of this effect probably lies in lattice rotations induced by seeding the eutectic. Keywords
