Abstract
Dipole and quadrupole polarizabilities and shielding factors of lithium and lithium-negative ion have been evaluated using Sternheimer's procedure. Unusually large values for quadrupole polarizabilities of lithium-negative ion are reported. The dipole polarizability of boron is also calculated and compared with the other calculations. Keywords
