Abstract

We have measured the decay rate for

{K_{L}}^{0} \to μ^{+} μ^{-}

in a double-arm spectrometer at the Argonne zero-gradient synchrotron. Sixteen events were found, from which we calculate

\frac{Γ ({K_{L}}^{0} \to μ^{+} μ^{-})}{Γ ({K_{L}}^{0} \to π^{+} π^{-})} = {4.2}_{- 0.9}^{+ 1.4} \times 10^{- 6}
