Abstract
We investigate the spectral properties of the volume operator in quantum gravity in the framework of a previously introduced lattice discretization. The spectrum of the volume operator is discrete, but its eigenstates differ from those found in an earlier continuum treatment. This illustrates how lattice methods can be used profitably in the context of diffeomorphism-invariant theories. Keywords
