Magnetization and magnetostriction of (Co1-xNi x)75Si15B10 amorphous alloys (x = 0, 0.4)

Abstract
The temperature dependence of the magnetization M and of the magnetostriction λs has been investigated in two amorphous (Co1- xNix)75Si15B 10 alloys, in order to analyse λs(T) in terms of one-ion and two-ion spin correlation functions. The Co alloy (x = 0 ) exhibits a pure single-ion behaviour from 0 K up to Tc , while the Co-Ni alloy (x = 0.4) deviates markedly from this behaviour above 220 K : this surprising temperature dependence is in agreement with previous high temperature data in this series, but cannot be ascribed to a 2-ion contribution
