MUMPS: Characteristics and comparisons with other programming systems

Abstract

The design goals and caractéristics of MUMPS (Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programming System) are described. It is compared with other programming systems, including Basic and Apl. The features and utility of different types of data-base system are compared with the facilities offered by MUMPS. Cet article décrit la conception, les buts et les caractéristiques de MUMPS (Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programming System). MUMPS est comparé aux autres langages de programmation évolués, tels que Basic et Apl. Les facilites offertes par MUMPS sont situees par rapport aux differents systemes de gestion de base de données.
