Design of cascade ring multicast switch

Abstract
A new high performance multicast switch is presented which consists of two independent subnetworks in tandem: a unicast subnetwork (USN) and a multicast subnetwork (MSN). Some of the unicast output channels are connected to the multicast ring subnetwork. This switch is approximately analysed with an equivalent queueing system to estimate the service capability seen by each input.
