Abstract
The method provides for a simple arrangement of plots from 3 to 21 or more. These plots are divided into groups that decrease progressively in number until a single plot is left in the last section. E.g., a 21-plot series provides for 6 sections; the first treatment is applied to all 6 plots in Section 1. At the next appl. only the last 5 plots in Sect. 1 and all 5 in Sect. 2 are treated. The 3rd appl. is made to the last 4 plots in Sect. 1, the last 4 in Sect. 2, and to all 4 in Sect. 3. This procedure is continued, one plot being progressively dropped from each sect. already treated, and one entire new sect. added until when the final appl. is made only 1 plot is treated in each of the 6 sections. Such a series should go far toward answering questions on timing, such as the correct time to start treatments, the number needed to give satisfactory control, and the degree of control to be expected from deferred applications. Keywords
