Abstract
A non-linear Schrodinger equation is derived by employing analogies to classical hydrodynamics. An approximate form of it is used to compute d sigma /d Omega in elastic scattering of heavy ions. The results support the model proposed, which in the end should also allow a determination of the compressibility of nuclear matter. Keywords
