The Thyroid Hormone-Plasma Protein Complex in Man. I. Differences in Different States of Thyroid Function12

Abstract
Human thyroid hormone, I-131 labelled either endogenously or exogenously, disappears more rapidly when obtained from hyper-thyroid patients with diffuse toxic goiter and infused into dogs than when it is similarly labelled and obtained from euthyroid patients. The in vitro uptake by rat diaphragm of radioactive thyroxin or triiodothyronine is greater from hyperthyroid plasma than from euthyroid plasma, or from euthyroid plasma artificially enriched to hyperthyroid protein bound iodine levels by addition of stable thyroxine or triiodothy ronine.
