Abstract
The role of edge stiffeners on the thermal stresses and buckling of thin elastic rectangular plates is examined. The edge stiffeners always affect the distribution of the in-plane stresses. They can either help or kinder the thermal buckling of plates as compared to a flat plate. Usually a reinforced plate must be thicker than a flat one to prevent buckling. Keywords
