Engaging Families as Support Resources in Nursing Home Care: Ambiguity in the Subdivision of Tasks

Abstract
This research follows up a previous study which found that substantial ambiguity in the subdivision of tasks between families and staff may hinder efforts to engage families as support resources in nursing home care. The current study partially corroborates the prior study, and the findings of both studies are combined to identify those tasks in the care process that appear to contain the greatest amount of role ambiguity and that require improved communication and clarification among relatives and staff.
