Abstract
A renormalisation group procedure is used to study the p-states Potts model with gaussian distributed interactions on a Cayley tree in the limit of infinite branching ratio. The generalised Sherrington-Kirkpatrick coupled recursion equations for the order parameters are numerically analysed for p=3, 4, 5, 6, 8. At low temperatures the system can order ferromagnetically, antiferromagnetically or display a double ferromagnetic phase. Except for p=2 there is no evidence of the occurrence of the spin glass phase. Keywords
