Low-temperature magnetic resonance studies on oxygen fluorides

Abstract
The 19F chemical shift of dioxygen difluoride (O2F2) was measured and its dependence on the concentration of the O2F radical present in the experiments was shown to be negligible. Photolysis of liquid OF2–O2 mixtures produces deep red solutions which show electron-spin resonance signals of very great intensity due to O2F; possible mechanisms for the formation of the free radical are briefly discussed.
