Abstract
A center for ocular divergence, possibly located in the pons, is postulated. Interference with the function of this center produces diplopia for other than near objects with no apparent limitation of individual ocular muscle action. 3 cases are described which suggest that divergence paralysis may result from increased intracranial pressure. Divergence paralysis must not be considered pathognomonic of a local lesion in the posterior fossa. Keywords
