Abstract
The flow of a jet of an inviscid, incompressible fluid emerging from a cylindrical pipe, of circular cross-section, into a stream of the same fluid is considered. The component of the external flow normal to the axis of the pipe is taken to be small compared with the speed of the jet. The results throw some light on the mechanisms that are responsible for the observed deflection of jets into the crossflow direction. Keywords
