Abstract
To the Editor.— According to Alexander Fisher, MD (written communication, November 1976), this is the first reported case of an acute, urticarial allergic contact dermatitis. Report of a Case.— A 45-year-old woman had a 3½-year history of recurring facial dermatitis that decreased on weekends and cleared during vacations. The patient used facial moisturizers and had been taking a mixture of norethindrone and mestranol (Ortho-Novum 1/50) for several years. She also had unexplained chest and abdominal pains, but results of a complete workup, including complete blood cell count and a blood chemistry study using an automated multiple analysis system, were normal; chest and upper and lower gastrointestinal roentgenograms were also normal.
