Diffuse Calcification of the Cornea in Hypercalcemia

Abstract
BAND keratopathy with hypercalcemia of whatever cause is a well established entity.1 2 3 4 It presents as a gray, granular and superficial opacity limited to the paralimbal region on either side of the cornea. The keratopathy is usually inconspicuous and asymptomatic. Most cases are easily overlooked unless examined with the slit lamp or with strong focal illumination. Its usual significance is that, like nephrocalcinosis, it is one of the few physical signs of hypercalcemia.
