Abstract
A silent mutant of the .beta. chain of the baboon (P. cynocephalus) was detected by high performance liquid chromatography [HPLC] of the globin chains. The substitution is .beta.13 Ala .fwdarw. Thr. The inclusion of nonylamine in the developers for HPLC results in an improved separation of baboon globin chains and in the complete resolution of the human G.gamma., A.gamma. and A.gamma.T chains and some common human variant .beta. chains. Keywords
