Abstract
Corrections to the linearized Thomas-Fermi equation are discussed, and the asymptotic nature of the method is described. The contribution of the second-order term to the transport cross section is calculated in the Born approximation, and illustrated by examples covering a wide range of electron densities in solids. Keywords
