Abstract
A number of strains of rapidly growing mycobacteria, identified or suspected either as M. fortuitum or M. runyonii, were tested for their biologic properties and for their specificites in the stimulation of the tuberculin reaction. The results of this adansonian classification were in accord with those of specificity studies in the tuberculin reaction indicating that M. fortuitum and M. runyonii can be sharply separated from each other. These findings support the establishment of the new species, M. runyonii. Several distinctive biochemical characteristics, by which both species can be differentiated, were presented. The 2 species can usually be distinguished. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
