Abstract
Eighty patients undergoing total abdominal hysterectomy for benign conditions were studied in order to assess the depth of tissue destruction achieved by using the Semm Cold Coagulator at different temperatures and different durations of application. The results indicate that after a single application, the mean depth of tissue destruction ranged from 2.6 mm (100°C for 20 seconds) to 3.5 mm (120°C for 30 seconds). The depth of tissue destruction increased significantly with higher temperature (P < 0.01) and longer length of exposure (P < 0.01).Keywords
