Abstract
The Bok globules in the Orion nebula are studied and curves of optical depth against projected radius obtained in two colours. From these the temperature and density of the material in the globules is deduced. The masses of the globules are found to be of the order of a solar mass and the temperature to have low values (~ 10°K). The colour dependence of the absorption is also found.
