Abstract
Of 40 cases of gonococcal urethritis treated with oxytetracycline using various dosage schedules, there were 37 cures and 3 failures. The most convenient and effective dosage was 250 mg oxytetracycline, given as a single intramuscular injection of 5 cc. Of 36 cases of non-gonococcal urethritis, cure was obtained with oxytetracycline in different dosages in 30 cases; 6 cases were failures. The dosage which was most effective was 250 mg oxytetracycline (5 cc), given as a single intramuscular injection, plus 250 mg orally, 4 times a day for 4 days. The effectiveness of oxytetracycline in the treatment of urethritis has not decreased.
