Abstract
The potency of picrotoxin, bicuculline, and bicuculline methochloride as antagonists of the inhibitory actions of γ-aminobutyric acid on the discharge of the stretch receptor neurones and on neuromuscular transmission in crayfish have been examined. On the stretch receptor the three antagonists were roughly equipotent; at the neuromuscular junction however the bicucullines were considerably less effective than picrotoxin.
