Abstract
The angular asymmetry parameter beta for photoionisation of helium with simultaneous excitation of the residual ion in the n=2 state has been measured in the region close to threshold. The data allow a clear decision to be made between two different theoretical approaches. In agreement with the experimental investigation of Woodruff and Samson (1980) on the partial cross sections for the same process, the data also favour the close-coupling calculation of Jacobs and Burke (1972) over the many-body calculation of Chang (1980).Keywords
