COARCTATION OF THE AORTA ASSOCIATED WITH ABNORMAL DIGITS, OVARIAN INSUFFICIENCY AND SHORTNESS OF STATURE*

Abstract
Four cases of coarctation of the aorta in females with other congenital abnormalities are reported. Shortness of stature and abnormally short digits occurred in all, while evidence of ovarian hypo-function (Albright''s syndrome) occurred in the 3 adult women. It is suggested that subclinical coarctation of the aorta may exist in such patients which can only be demonstrated by the more specialized techniques such as the measurement of the direct arterial blood pressure in the upper and lower extremities and by retrograde aortic arteriography.
