Abstract
The band-gap renormalization of a two- and three-dimensional electron-hole plasma is calculated for finite temperatures. Beyond the random-phase approximation, a vertex correction in the form of the second-order exchange contribution to the self-energy is included. The results in two and three dimensions are qualitatively similar. Both corrections are strongly temperature dependent and decrease faster in three dimension than in two dimension with increasing temperature. Keywords
