Abstract
Iron(III) hexacyanoferrate(II)(‘Prussian Blue’) is shown voltammetrically to deposit from a solution of Fe3+ and hexacyanoferrate(III) by two dominant electroreductions. The progenitor species is probably the 1 : 1 complex which diffuses to the electrode. Reoxidation is only partly achieved, to ‘Prussian Green’(PG), also occurring in two forms. The composition of PG, as containing [FeIII(CN)6]⅔[FeII(CN)6]⅓, is confirmed coulometrically and mechanistic detail is clarified. Keywords
