Abstract
The partial replacement of either soy oil or fish oil with animal fat in diets fed to rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) had no adverse effects on the fish. Fish held at 11°C tended to have less whole-body fat and more whole-body moisture than did fish held at 20°C. Condition factor (K) was not significantly correlated with any dietary factor, performance factor, or whole-body composition. The study confirmed the findings of other investigators that animal fats are suitable sources of energy for use in trout feeds. Keywords
