Abstract
The removal of foreign bodies from the stomach by flexible fiberoscopy utilizing biopsy forceps and polypectomy snares has been reported on numerous occasions. The use of a colon stiffening tube is described in conjunction with a flexible fiberoscope to facilitate the removal of 2 writing instruments approximately 15 cm. in length. This colon stiffening tube allowed the safe removal of these 2 writing instruments without difficulty or danger of esophageal tear or perforation or provoking operator anxiety.
