Digital Carotid Artery Compression with Occlusion of the Anterior Cerebral Artery

Abstract
Occlusion of the proximal portion of the anterior cerebral artery (determined by angiographic studies) is associated with nervousness, fear, insecurity, dizziness, fainting-like spells, weak spells with contralateral hemiparesis or monoparesis as seen in 5 of the 10 examples reported in this paper. The authors feel such an occlusion may result in cerebrovascular insufficiency of the hypothalamic and basofrontal areas with the causation of the above symptoms and signs. These patients had syncope on compression of the carotid bifurcation supplying the good anterior cerebral vessel.
