Abstract
The absorption cross section per electron is calculated for ultraviolet radiation in NaCl at the first exciton band, at the exciton series limit, at the -band, and at its series limit. The assumed models lead to qualitative agreement with experimental results. The conclusions are briefly extended to other crystals.
