Abstract
DNA base composition, DNA-DNA homology and long-chain fatty acid studies were performed on S. thermophilus and S. salivarius. These species possess similar mol% G + C values (.apprx. 37-41), long-chain fatty acid profiles and belong to a single DNA homology group. It is proposed that S. thermophilus be reclassified as S. salivarius ssp. thermophilus comb. nov. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
