Abstract
The transition 4Π←X 2Π occurs at 3.5 ev in the ultraviolet spectra of NO dissolved in organic solvents. The observed ωe values range from 1100 cm‐1 in CCl4 to 1600 cm‐1 in CH3OH. These trends are correlated to the shift of electron density out of the π*‐antibonding level upon formation of hydrogen bonds with the solvent. Keywords
