Abstract
This paper reports an investigation by the scale‐model method of how the response of a horizontal‐loop electromagnetic system to a vertical, sheetlike conductor is modified by the presence of a conducting overburden. It was found that the overburden makes the vertical conductor seem more conductive and more deeply buried than it really is, and that the vertical conductor’s in‐phase anomaly may become reversed in sign. Keywords
