Abstract
Early gastrulae, stage 10 of Shumway, of Rana pipiens and of Hyla regilla were bisected frontally and the dorsal and ventral halves incubated separately in Holtfreter''s soln. containing methionine labelled with S35. After 5 hrs. incubation the proteins of the gastrular halves were analyzed for methionine S. In 6 expts. with Rana and 3 with Hyla the dorsal halves had a higher specific activity than ventral halves; the avg. difference being 14% in the former, 6% in the latter. Statistical analysis showed the difference to be significant. Keywords
