Abstract
Karnath (1988) and Gainotti, D'Erme and De Bonis (1989). suggested that the typical and severe neglect symptomology that is seen predominantly after lesions of the right hemisphere, is due to the combined effect of at least two different components: (1) an imbalance of lateral orienting tendencies with spontaneously primary orienting towards the ipsilesional side; together with (2) a deficit in orienting attention (from this primary focus), as well as eye or limb movements, to the contralesional side of the sagittal midplane. Keywords
