Proliferating epidermoid cysts

Abstract
This relatively uncommon benign tumor of squamous epithelium, which clinically resembles a keratinous or sebaceous cyst, usually occurs on or close to the scalp of elderly women. This tumor can be mistaken for an epithelioma, and it may also be confused with pilomatrixoma (Malherbe''s Tumor), especially when there is Ca deposition. This article suggests the name proliferating epidermoid cyst, and describes the histological and clinical features of 9 cases.
