Abstract
A hypothesis is presented depicting patterns of human periodontal attachment loss. The patterns described occur rapidly, are site-specific and take place in response to virulence and duration of local irritants. They appear to mirror current clinical observations regarding the nature and progress of site-specific periodontal lesions. Keywords
