Analysis of Beutler-Fano autoionizing resonances in the rare-gas atoms using the relativistic multichannel quantum-defect theory

Abstract
The Beutler-Fano autoionizing resonances in the rare-gas atoms argon, krypton, and xenon are studied using the relativistic multichannel quantum-defect theory (MQDT). Dynamical parameters for the MQDT analyses are obtained from an ab initio relativistic-random-phase-approximation calculation. The position and profile of these resonances are in good agreement with experimental measurements. Angular distribution and spin polarization of photoelectrons in the resonance regions are also studied and are in close agreement with recent measurements.Keywords
