Abstract
This work investigates the behavior of elliptical and anisotropic aquifers. Solutions for the dimensionless cumulative water influx and rate of water influx are presented for a range of ae/be ratios (ae/be = ratio of the half-length of major to minor axes of the internal boundary ellipse). Tabular and graphical forms of the dimensionless cumulative water influx and influx rate are presented as a function of the dimensionless time for various internal boundary geometries ranging from ae/be = 1, which corresponds to a circle, to a ae/be = ∞, which corresponds to a line (linear system). It is shown also that, for long times, an elliptical aquifer/reservoir system can be treated as a radial system by using the effective radius presented here as a function of the ae/be ratio. Keywords
