Vegetation Formulae

Abstract
The use of a standard area, e.g., 1 hectare (2.47 acres), is recommended. The plants are classified in 5 main groups: A (trees), F (shrubs), H (herbaceous plants), G (grass), C gams). In the formula the number of plants are given in the above order, followed by the approximate or average height and a list of dominants of each group. The formula 150A(30) + 300F(2) +00G, indicates that there are 150 trees averaging 30 feet high; 300 shrubs averaging 2 feet high; and numerous grasses.
