Abstract
Perfluoro-2,3-dimethylbut-2-ene is conveniently prepared from perfluoro-(2,2,4,4-tetramethyldithietan) at 325 °C. Under u.v. irradiation it is efficiently isomerised to perfluoro-2,3-dimethylbut-1-ene. Perfluoro-2-methylbut-2-ene and perfluoro-3-methylpent-2-ene are also isomerised photochemically, but more slowly, migration of fluorine being exclusively to the RFCF: group. In the presence of fluoride ion the internal olefins are reformed quantitatively. Keywords
