Abstract
As the number of screening tests done on a healthy patient increases, so does the probability that at least one value will be outside the “normal range” by chance. If only one of several tests is “abnormal,” interpretation must be guarded. Much of the difficulty in interpreting laboratory values stems from the arbitrary division of patients into two distinct groups, healthy and diseased. Keywords
