Abstract
We have successfully demonstrated high‐power operation of a para‐H2 rotational Raman laser at room temperature. A photon conversion efficiency of 60% was obtained with a 10.6‐μm CO2 pump energy of 4.3 J, giving 0.85 J in the first Stokes pulse at 17.0 μm. Transient effects observed under room‐temperature conditions are also reported. Keywords
